~ Classenti Digital Pianos. What's All The Fuss About?... Designed and engineered by Germans... Parts produced in France and Germany... Assembled in China... The Classenti digital pianos have an EXCELLENT sound and are so realistic to a real upright piano. The touch is slightly heavier than most digital pianos, which is great for beginners (they will strengthen their fingers so it will be much easier when the time comes to play a real piano).
Check out the models here: CDP1, CDP2, CDP3
I personally recommend the Classenti. Drop me an email to grahamhoward ukpianos.co.uk if you want to find out more. Graham Howard, ukpianos.co.uk editor. Read more.

Upright Pianos

Most popular upright pianos
Yamaha - The most popular pianos in the world. Yamaha have been making uprights for over 100 years. Kemble - The only upright pianos that are built in England. Their factory in Milton Keynes, UK produces around 30 pianos per day. A lot of these pianos are shipped around the world. Kawai - Reasonably priced uprights but lacking in quality of sound when you compare with Yamaha or Kemble. Bohemia - Great sounding European piano. The Bohemia upright piano factory in Jihlava, Czech Republic has been making pianos since the late 19th Century. Main upright piano makes on this site: Steinway, Bechstein, Bluthner, Bosendorfer, Fazioli and Klima. Upright pianos are also commonly called vertical or traditional pianos. Old or antique uprights are straight strung and over damped, sometimes they have a wooden frame. Modern uprights are overstrung, under damped and have a cast iron piano frame. See all upright pianos. Most popular question of the month
Thanks a million Howard. Kudos to all your effort and your website. I want to buy a piano asap, but I am a bit apprehensive of buying a second-hand one. Are there any pitfalls? For example, I don't like buying 2nd hand computer parts as you never know the usage hours, but i never tried a piano second-hand. What is your opinion on this? New or second hand?
Thanks, Catalin
If you're buying an upright piano then any well known brand name that's less than 30 years old, should be fine. Anything older than that, or not so well known should be checked out by a qualified piano tuner/technician.
Digital pianos, in my opinion, should only be purchased new.
I've seen far too many second-hand digital pianos that are in need of extensive and VERY costly repair.
Here are the digital pianos I recommend, according to how much you are willing (or able) to spend:
Price range (Less than £550) Classenti CDP1
Price range (£500 - £600) Yamaha YDP140
Price range (£700 - £800) Yamaha CLP320 Roland RP-101
